About Us

Like most good things in life, Farm&Field started in a kitchen. There was a best friend, some lye water, and a soapmaking book. And much to my satisfaction, it worked. The soap was great. It looked nice, it smelled nice, and, as my skill improved, I started taking pictures of it and putting the photos on Facebook. I began receiving numerous responses, and many people were asking to buy the soap; however, with being a wife, as well as a mother to two young girls, it took me a little time to make up my mind to sell my goods. Well, one thing led to another and, after enough requests to purchase the bars, I finally decided to give it a try. What's not to like about a hobby that pays for itself, right?

The soap you purchase on this website is truly handcrafted. By my hands. Each bar slightly varies. The patterns and molds and scents combine to make a one-of-a-kind item. It's unique in a way that makes me happy. I use high-quality, natural ingredients, and I hope that choice is apparent when you use the soap. The scents derive from essential oils, which smell real and familiar, as opposed to perfume fragrance, and I source the lard and tallow from a local, animal-welfare-approved farm. It's honest soap.

I've been asked how the different types of soap should be used, and the answer is that they can be used for almost anything. They may look fancy, but nearly all of them work great in the shower or as a nice hand soap in the guest bath. My shower is full of bath and shampoo/conditioner bars, and they are gentle enough to use on my daughters' skin. Be careful, though—once you get used to the nice feel and smell, it becomes hard to switch back to the store-bought bars. So pick one out and let me know what you think!
